Trains from Rome airport to Termini station.
Where can I find information about the trains that run from the airport to Termini? We are arriving Rome 8am on a Wednesday and want to train to Venice from there.
I understand that I have to take a "Local" train from airport to Termini. Where do I find info and schedules for those trains?
Thanks!

The local train goes to Tiburtina, not Termini. If you want Termini, you take the Leonardo which doesn't make any stops and departs every 30 minutes. The FM1 (local train)leaves every 15 minutes and makes multiple stops including Trastevere. For schedules for both on Trenitalia enter Fiumicino Aeroporto and Roma.

FYI - To get all schedules and prices on Trenitalia you must enter a date within the next 7 days. While schedules don't change much (especially ones from the airport) the prices might increase a euro or two when they redo the schedules this winter.

To take the Leonardo Express from Fiumicino:
When you get to the station at the airport you go to the tobacco shop right in front of the trains to buy a ticket. One ticket is 11 euros.
You take the train ON THE MIDDLE TRACK to Termini. Before you board the train, you stick your ticket in the YELLOW machines at the train platform for validation.
The trains leave every half hour, 6 minutes past. For example: 7:36, 8:06, 8:36, 9:06.

You guys SO rock!!! Thin, I especially appreciate your description of where the ticket booth is, where the train is AND how to validate the ticket! These are the kinds of things that Robes told me about before my first trip to Paris. And it is such useful information. I'm not anal, but I DO like to be prepared!
Thanks rinr for the links! And thanks St. Cirq for the link to the Leonardo page on Trenitalia. Thanks ky for taking the time to post.

You can also purchase Leonardo Express tickets from a vending machine at the FCO platform with a credit card. But since you are en route to Venice, you might want to go to the ticket agent and buy the Rome-Venice ticket at the same time. Select a train leaving Termini 20 minutes or more after your scheduled Leonardo arrival there.

Oh, and right across from the tobacco shop is an ATM machine with directions in English.
There was no line at the tobacco shop for a train ticket on the morning that Keith and I were there, Sept. 3, 2009.

Due to a website crash I've had to rework the LINKS to my above post. **I APLOGIZE** if you've tried to access them and received an error message. Believe me, after reworking the entire website, I feel your pain! I know this thread is VERY dated, but I did want to update "my post" to prevent any confusion and frustration from folks doing research. Here are the REVISED links - Hopefully, they will help you in your travel planning:

We did just that at the end of Sept. As noted the Leonardo express departs from track 25 and you can buy the tickets there. We too arrived at 8am and my concern in prepurchasing tickets was if the plane was late, bags delayed or customs issues, we would miss the train. Purchasing Rome-Venice when ready for departure was very easy and without worry we would miss the train we paid for. enjoy.
