Hello Everybody!

Can someone please tell me if there are any trains from Barcelona Spain to Salzburg, and what is the price range. It seems prices are not shown on the different train sites I am looking at.
Actually I know it might be a long trip ( if there is a route between them) but I believe it would be more fun!
What do you think?

There wouldn't be direct trains, and it would be a very long journey through France and Germany or Switzerland. The websites for the main national operators show routes:

They're unlikely to quote prices more than about three months out from your departure date.

If you look at bahn.de it will give you the routings and schedules for any trips you want. But since this is the german national rail it only provides costs for trips to, fro or through germany.

While it is certainly possible to take a train from Barcelona to Salzburg the trip makes no sense since it would take at least 16 hours with a minimum of 3 changes of train (Paris, Stuttgart and Munich). Other options take about 24 hours. You really should look with at flight options or consider stopping at a couple of places along the way if you do go by train.

I believe you might not find it that fun.. fun is 5 hours on a train and a picnic lunch.. not 15 hours on three trains,,, lol

Why not fly in a bit closer and just take a shorter train ride to destination to enjoy the scenery in that area.. trust me . the scenery through much of France to Paris is boring.. the coast is nice.. the mountains nice.. but there is just a lot of boring inbetween.

Do you want to stop off along the way? If so, go by train. You could go via Lyon, Geneva and Zurich for instance - 17 hours in a train, but break the journey up.
Otherwise do as justineparis suggests and fly part of the way and then get the train.

Fares starting at 88 euro if you book ahead. Either overnight in Switzerland, getting to see all the scenery, or take a night train from Switzerland to Austria.

Thanks everybody for your advice, I found on the Renfe different names starting from Barcelona couldn't understand for example written Barcelona Todas, la Segara....? What are these places?

What about cheap airlines from Barcelona to Salzburg?

Of course, you should fly.

Use one of the usual flight search machines to find a cheap flight. Using dummy dates, I found no nonstop fligths but many options with one stop like British Airways, Lufthansa, Iberia, Austrian..., starting at 124 €. Often Vueling has good fares, but it seems they have no connection to Salzburg. Maybe to a regional airport.

BTW, it seems that the different stations confuse you on the Renfe website. The station for then trains to France is Barcelona Sants.

For flights, I use Skyscanner.

YOu do have to be a little train savvy to use any website like that to know that the choices in the list are different rail station names (within a city or suburbs sometimes), and you kind of have to know the main one. For Barcelona, choose Sants, for Salzburg (and many other cities) you choose Salzburg hbf which is an abbreviation for Salzburg Hauptbahnof which means main station or central station.

Even if you chose the wrong one, it would show a route which a short connection to the one where you start the main trip, usually.

Just select 'Barcelona(*)' on renfe.com if you don't know which station - though it'll be the main Barcelona Sants.

In fact, you're better off booking trains from Barcelona to France or Geneva at www.captaintrain.com as it's easier, and can do onward connections.
