Edinburgh, Scotland

Will be in Edinburgh at the end of February. What weather should I expect? What centrally located hotels do you recommend under $300 per night? Thanks for any information you can provide.

Hi,
One I stayed at was a family run hotel at the Haymarket about 7min walk to Princess St.The family come from the Orkney Isles and the resturant has some great seafood. Have a look at the web site WWW.dunstanehousehotel.co.uk
I am jealous already!!

We liked the Balmoral Hotel which is near the center of town, within walking distance from most things. Don't know how much it is at that time.

It will be cold and damp.

Try the Point, the Crowne Plaza, the Apex Grassmarket and the macdonald Holyrood

I also stayed at the Dunstane House hotel and would recommend. If you care, there is a bus stop directly in front of the hotel that will take you to Princess St. and/or transfer anywhere in town.
Have fun.

We stayed at the Balmoral. Logged onto their web site and made reservations. As I recall we paid GBP125 per night for two. Great location. Great hotel. We were there in May.

I just returned from 5 days in Edinburgh-Dec.3-7th. I packed for cold, rainy weather and was very fortunate that the weather was unseasonably mild and sunny during my entire stay! Of course, as the locals told me, this was very unusal.
As for accomodations, I stayed at a B & B that I discovered on this site that was fabulous, very homey and comfortable with winter season rates. The B& B, 16 Lynedoch Place, is an easy walk from Princes Street.
Enjoy your stay!
