Edinburgh B&B/hotels during August

I need help in finding a room in Edinburgh.

I did not realize the festival of the arts was taking place during August. So, I am having difficulty finding accommodations. If I find a room it will be great fun!

Thanks for any ideas!

I reserved one room for a friend at the Holiday Inn website three or four days ago. Maybe they still have something because most of them are not very central located but it seems to me that they have good bus connections.

how many nights? It's not just the festivals - but also the Military Tattoo runs the month of August so many places will have a 3 night minimum unless they have last minute cancellations.

Hopefully the HI kendrina mentions will be able to accomodate you. But if not, you will spend a LOT of time contacting multiple B&Bs/hotels in the hope of finding that needle in a haystack.

So if the HI doesn't work out - I contact the Tourist Information Center and have them try to locate a room for you. They will have a fairly up to date data base of where rooms are open . . . . .

Topping because I'm interested in how you make out.

I went to Edinburgh in August years ago (when the internet was just getting taking off). My agent forgot(!?) to book a hotel for the Edinburgh porion of the trip and I discovered this in May. We ended up 5 miles out of the center in a dumpy B&B. That was the last time I used an agent.

You may have to settle for something in the close-in suburbs. I wish you the best of luck.
