EDI to Prestwick for 6:30 a.m. flight

Were planning on taking the train from EDI to Prestwick, however, airline changed flight to 7:05 a.m and have to be at airport at least 35 minutes prior---(better to be an hour). Earliest train from glasgow central arrives at Prestwick at 6:43a.m. which is too late. Does anyone know how else one can get from EDI to Prestwick other than the trains? Even if we took the train out from EDI the night before, we can't make it from glasgow central to PIK in time. What options are available & what are the approximate costs? Please help!!!!

If you've got to be on that flight, go to Prestwick the night before. Anything else would be purgatory.

Sheila is right. The other option is to take the advice on the Prestwick Airport website, <If you need an early morning transfer from Glasgow City Centre or any other pick up point at a discounted rate please phone +44 1292 284545 OR EMAIL [email protected] >

Hi peyton18,

Sheila & Ron are both right - it's just not feasible to get to Prestwick at that time in the morning from Edinburgh.

If you go to the Airport's website at www.gpia.co.uk you'll find 3 or 4 local hotels listed under "airport information". There's also a link to the local tourist information office which will allow you to book online if you'd prefer. Sorry I can't give any recommendations for particular hotels in the area, but maybe someone else will be able to do so.

If you are taking Ryanair, as I suspect, you have to be at the airport more than 35 minutes in advance. They will close the ticket window down 30 minutes pre-departure even if you are standing right there in line waiting.

I would not want to be there any less than 2 hours before the flight - but certainly no less than 1 hour.
