Eating near Staatsoper in Vienna

We are looking for restaurant and cafe suggestions near the Staatsoper in Vienna. Interested in late dinner spots, and breakfast places. Thank you in advance for any suggestions!

The Palmenhaus, in the former royal conservatory near the Staatsoper, was a favourite of ours when we twice visited Vienna a few years ago. It's across from the Meridien on the Ring.

Chic clientele; hip without attitude; good service and good food -- light if you wish it, more substantial too.

For a really good, authentic Italian restaurant, steps from the Oper (on a side street off the Kärtnerstraße), I highly recommend Al Caminetto. It is one the favorite restaurants of my freinds, who live in Vienna. They took me there, and I loved it! I've been going back since.

A really short bus, U-Bahn, or taxi ride away is my favorite restaurant in Vienna: Restaurant zum Stöger. Service, atmosphere, and food are true Austrian in every respect.

Castleblanca, thank you for those, have bookmarked them. Could have used them last night when looking for a place after Musikverein concert! It was cold and late so we just ducked into the Imperial Hotel's cafe and although the food was fine, it was not what we were looking for. (We are staying across street at Grand Hotel so location was perfect though).
