Novotel Muenchen City or Mercure Muenchen City Center- Which is Best??
Hello,
We are a family of 4 visiting Germany over Christmas and would like a nice hotel room with a good location. Which hotel between these locations is the best (location, nicer hotel) for our Christmas vacation???
Novotel Muenchen City
Hochstrasse 11
Bayern
Mercure Hotel Muenchen City Center
Senefelderstrasse 9
Subway Stop: MUENCHEN HAUPTBAHNHOF
We get a much better rate at the Mercure, but I wanted to make sure it was a nice hotel...
Thanks for your advice...

I can't comment on these two hotels. They are both owned by the same company. The Mercure is usually a step up from the Novotel. we stayed at several Novotels this fall and found them very good. Why don't you check out their websites for photos of the typical room. If the the Mercure is in the center I would rather stay there. The Novotels I've stayed at have outside the centers.

>Mercure
Walking distance to all sights downtown and shopping areas.
>Novotel
Walk to Deutsches Museum, Gasteig cultural center, Imax, short S-Bahn train ride to downtown or walk.
Mercure wins imho. Now idea about how rooms are.

Thanks for your replys... I was unsure which location was the better spot for central Munich. The maps provided on their website was not that clear and I am not familiar with Munich.
Has anyone ever stayed at the Mecure Muenchen City Center hotel???? I am just curious to see if the rooms are nice.

"The Mercure is usually a step up from the Novotel"
Novotel are usually 4 star and Mercure are usually 3 star hotels.
A friend of mine stayed at the Hilton city centre in Munich on a business trip, which is almost in front of the Novotel and she loved the location so I think both are good.

If you want to go downtown for shopping and sightseeing, Mercure's location is a lot better, no doubt about that. If you want the museum, the river and nice restaurants (better than downtown anyway) within easy walking distance, Novotel is an option. There's a very nice public bath (art nouveau) just a few meters from there.
