No problem! We didn't actually get there. In the end we decided to go to The Bad Ass Cafe. I hadn't been in about 10 years but it was fantastic. Excellent food and it was a handy quick bite before the theatre. I haven't tried Darwin's. I work fairly close to it too, so must try it some evening.

oh, and I may as well add to this - for Venu you must now make a reservation. You would probably be able to walk-in during the week, but at weekends you need to book.

Great news that Shanahan's is still as good as I remember it from a few years ago. I am still recovering from the shock at the bill when I brought 8 members of my family to dinner there on the recommendation of one of my nephews who had dined there a few times with his friend's father. My dear nephew neglected to add that that the father was a millionaire

BTW, one of my least favourable dinning experiences last time I was back was Sunday lunch in the Phoenix Park at the restaurant in the grounds of the old Guinness mansion. Nice setting, but pretty awful food!

Ger was it in the boat house at farmleigh. if so its the Dunne and Cresenzi crowd and they have a very good reputation for their other places. How disappointing. Our Xmas party (for my partners work) is usually the three of us splashing out and their company pays as they are the owners. We went to Peploes last year but I would not go for Xmas. I felt shoved into a corner and very rushed and we did not budge and just relaxed and took our time eating. Still they squeezed some extra tables in as it is never set up that way since I have been back for drinks. We want a reataurant we will not be pushed out of and I am looking at an after place with music or a piano bar. I just got the last booking for Xmas eve lunch at Rolys! Its crazy these days
