All the amazing things to see. We have visited Athens and the Plaka and Santorini and mykonos. We now want to return.
What parts of the mainland are must sees. Has anyone visited Hydra? Worth it? Why? Any accommodation tips? Is bus the best way to travel around or are there good train services.

The Peloponnese is fantastic, also Crete - if you go north there some great places around Thessaloniki (also Island of Thasos)

mccamish - you have not received much response because your title bears no connection to your question. You may well be "CONFUSED" - but that does not tell a reader that you are asking about Hydra.

try a new thread with a better title (FYI - there is no "Greece" forum, just a general Europe one, so your confused thread could be about London, Iceland, Prague or anywhere)

Must sees include Delphi and Meteora.

Hydra is nice. But we did it by private sailboat which I think hightened the experience. I actually thought that Aegina was more interesting, with it's beautiful temple at the mountain top.

Check out the Meteora area. It is fantastic - the tall rocks with monastaries on top. I don't know about bus transportation. We had a car. We also enjoyed Napflion (in a different direction.) Have a great time - I would go back to Greece in a heartbeat. CJ

Hydra is a delightful island, the main port or harbour is small and really done in an afternoon but there are many walks beyond the village to enjoy. It has no cars only a few vehicles for tradesmen, rubbish truck etc. They soon disappear in the early part of the day and the waterfront is left to the tourists and fishermen. It has a very interesting maritime museum. I like Hydra better than Aegina, on Hydra I stayed at a very attractive hotel called Inn Kompas.

Regarding your question, we have found the Peloponnese area a must see, i.e., Nafphlio, Mycenae, Epidaraus & Corinth, etc, --approx. 2 1/2 hours by bus from Athens. We have traveled to Greece four times, & always end our stay in Hydra. It is about 1 1/2 hours from Piraeus, by high seed boat, but if you have more time, take the slow ferry & catch a seat on the top deck facing forward, sit back & enjoy the view, sun and wind on your face & when the boat comes around the bend and into the beautiful horseshoe harbor of Hydra, you will know why so many people return again & again. It is totally a captivating island; small; no cars/mopeds (donkey transport, only) & all uphill (most people only explore the harborside & miss everthing). I could go on & on, but I'm tired. Spent too many hours listening to the "Winds of War" We have airline tickets for Greece for late May & early June, & once again we will spend the last three nights in Greece in Hydra, but we are beginning to wonder if we have to change our plans. Not afraid of our safety in Greece, just don't want to be seperated from our family at these unsettling times.... Tears do come to my eyes--

Thank you all for the replies. Yes, I am confused because I only have 18 days in Greece and when you travel most of a day to get there you really want to make sure you get it right.We are Aussies.
I value input from fellow travellers. Like you all at the end of the day you make a decision based on what you hear and what you read. And I dont believe all of it either.
Would welcome any feedback on travelling around, accommodations, any wonderful out of the way restaurants etc
