I spent over two hours in Nordstroms trying on all their Italian made comfort branded shoes. Actually, no, didn't try on all of them -- just the ones that were so ugly that they came full circle to looking kinda cute. I tried those on and walked around the carpeted shoe section, trying to get a feel for hot spots, edges that cut or digged, arch support, exceptional padding for the balls of my feet, etc. They were all pretty comfortable, but nothing stood out as pillowy orgasms for my feet, which I sorta expect for shoes that are almost $300 AND so ugly that only their momma shoes could think them beautiful.
I put a pair of Josef Seibel's on hold but I ended up just buying shoes from the Aerosoles store for $49. They were fine.
But you know what you shouldn't forget to do no matter what shoes you buy? Stretch your legs really well every morning at the beginning of your day and when you get back in the evening --esp. your calf muscles, but also your quads if you're doing tons of stairs. On one trip, my feet felt fine the whole time -- no soreness or blisters, but I almost pulled some muscles in my legs because I forgot to stretch before heading out to what ended up being like a 12 mile walk day.

Hi,
I was in Italy for three weeks last summer and I wore a pair of Timberland sandals. I think that they were perfect. I am taking them next time.
I did a lot of walking and they were very comfortable. I even went up to Monte Solaro (Capri), Rocca Maggiore (Assisi) and San Miniato al Monte (Florence) and never had any problems.
