My husband and I, with two other couples, will be in Cinque Terre the end of October, after much debate we have decided to stay in Monterosso. We are trying to decide between two moderately priced hotels, Albergo degli Amici and Hotel Marina, we would like to hear any comments, good or bad, about either of these hotels. Thanks!

I am also looking at both of these hotels as possibilities for my stay in September. Ideally I would like a hotel close to the beach or one with its own beach/pool. anyone with other hotel/b&b possibilities?

I have stayed at a few properties in Monterosso but found I liked renting a room from a local owner of an "affitacamere" (room rental) and living like a local.

To answer your question, both the Albergo degli Amici and the Hotel Marina are on the same street in the center of town. Note that the Albergo degli Amici is also a restaurant so will be louder and more bustling. You may prefer staying at the Hotel Marina.

We stayed at Villa Steno in Monterosso and loved it. Make sure you eat at Gambero Rosso in Vernazza!
