cheap hotels near Cinque Terre

Is there a nice town close to Cinque terre where I can find an affordable hotel for a family of 3? (or bed and breakfast). Does anyone know of anything that won't kill the budget but allow for exploring easily CT??
Merci et Grazie

What do you consider affordable?

you might check out Levanto. I don`t know what you call affordable either but we didn`t pay much to stay at the Europa hotel (it`s a B&B) on via Dante.

About 18 months ago I stayed at the well-run and friendly 3* Hotel Delle Rose in Bonassola. The hotel was built by a famous Italian footballer (Giorgio Bernadin) and his family still run it. Bonassola is a seaside village just outside the CT area. The hotel faces the beach and it's in a pedestrian street. We used a rail pass to get around the CT villages, and we also had a ferry ride one day.

Levanto has quite a few hotels and B&Bs and is a nice town in itself. We stayed at Villa Clelia . It was a 10 minute train ride into Monterroso.

I also favour Levanto as being a convenient town for exploring Cinque Terre, its easy to get to by driving or train, and to get in and out of CT by train or ferry, plus its a proper resort town with hotels, restaurants, shops etc. Check out http://www.cinqueterre.com/accommodations/eng/levanto/

Local train from Bonassalo to the CT takes about 10-15 minutes. It first stops at Levanto and then continues on to Monterosso.

I've only seen Bonassalo from the train (on my way to another destination) .... from the window, thought it looked charming and wondered if it'd be a good place to stay as an alternative to the Cinque Terre.
