Christina and Scarlett

Hi,

I can't find a great thread you both contributed to on Music in Paris a couple of weeks ago. Any ideas? Did a text search and found nothing.

yes, I think that may be the one you want if it was about chanson in Paris. If it is sinking, you can find it just be typing "chanson" into the search box, selecting France.

I also wrote on a very long thread from a while ago and listed many URLs and venues for classical music concerts in Paris, although that hasn't been up recently -- if you want that type of music, type exactly "classical music sites" and click on France.

Actually, I think degas started it and it might have been called something like "Romantic Music in Paris". However, it quickly expanded to include advice about various kinds of music and a range of clubs/cafes and bars.

scarlett, you talked about a place like Rick's Cafe in Casablanca.

Bonjour Chat Noir !
I could not find the thread either, but the place that I mentioned is called Le Casbah, on rue de la Forge-Royale. You know-there is a Chat Noir in Pigalle, a blues club

Scarlett, thanks for the info. No, I didn't know about it, but will have to check it out next time.

I'm really puzzled about what happened to the thread as it was a good one.

Guess I should email the good ones to myself ASAP since some threads seem to "disappear". I think my email issue was a fodor server problem, as I went back later and could email many of the ones that had earlier error messages.

oh.. THAT thread.

I searched by words I know were in it and also just my own history back to August, and it has disappeared, unfortunately. It was about romantic music, and maybe some dancing was mentioned.

Obviously, when no one was looking , a Trollish sort of Gremlin came along, said something and the thread was deleted. I have noticed that happening now and then. Too bad we can't just delete the trollish sort~
Want to start a new thread on music and dance in Paris?

Darn the luck. Scarlett, that sounds like a great idea of starting a new one. Can you get it started? Seems like you and Christina provided most of the inputs last time.

I was open to all kinds of music: soft rock, salsa, blues, jazz and classical.

Not into the wild club scene or spending big bucks. Just want to go somewhere after dinner and listen to some good music with a couple of drinks.

The hotel La Villa has live jazz in their downstairs club la Villa. on rue Jacob.
Friends love the Buddha Bar where they sit and people watch while having drinks.
In the Latin Quarter thre are plenty of small smokey places to listen to music, unfortunately, I have lost most of my memory and do not remember any names! But the Caveau de la Huchette was a favorite of my friends who summer in Paris every year, jazz- on rue de la Huchette.
New Morning, near Galleries Lafayette, on rue des Petites Ecuries, a true jazz venue.
There was a place that you could listen to Latin music and do the tango but I forgot that one too ~weep~
That's about all I can think of! Hope this helps and more people can give you names and places to listen to cool music~

I will be starting a new thread under a different heading. It will be where to go in Paris for music and a drink.
I will copy and paste Degas' question and my answer.. That way, people might be more interested than when they see our names here
at least mine, I am sure Christina is much more interesting ~
