Primark - really? Whatever you are drinking today, flanner, toss the rest of the bottle. If one consults a reputable dictionary for the definition of "boutique" Primark would be depicted as an illustration of the antonym. Their inventory is predominantly items that failed to pass the quality checks for WalMart in third world <strike>sweatshops</strike> factories

The daughter of a friend spent a year at the Sorbonne some years ago. My DH and I had lunch with her. She asked where we were staying and, when we replied "Rue du Cherche Midi" she exclaimed that it is a great street with a great consignment shop.

Not a boutique but maybe worth a look? Upon your return to Michigan, I can hear you saying, "Oh, this old thing? It's just a Chanel I picked up on Paris?"

lisamariana,
I don't have any specific names of cheap boutiques but you might enjoy walking around the Marais, there are a number of consignment and second hand places (some upscale and some not) but they're quite popular with a hip crowd. I'd try googling secondhand/consignment Marais boutiques or looking for blog posts.

I know there's even a place where you can buy secondhand clothes by the kilo.

Paris Walks does a Chanel walk you might enjoy, here'a a description with photos on my blog

I'd also suggest a look at the "concept" store Merci (also in the Marais) which may be something different.

Hope this helps and you have a great trip with your Mom

aliced-whilst the discount card certainly does have exclusions I bought 2 pairs of boots which had 40% off with that card in May. You can get some bargains.
