"Target" like store in Paris ??

I need to buy basic home supplies for a 9 month stay in Paris, everything will probably be donated at the end of the year, so I don't want to spend too much.
Any ideas for things from a-z, sheets, basic household items? Is there an Ikea nearby?

Monoprix. There is an Ikea somewhere in Paris, but Monoprix is more widespread.

Th.

ere's an IKEA in Roissy. And Monoprix all over. And I think there's still a Habitat store downtown in Paris.

And don't overlook Craigslist in Paris.

Carrefour is also a good place for all of the basics. If you have access to or know someone with a car, I'd get them to take me out for the afternoon to a suburban Carrefour and go shopping!

It is worth a trip to the suburbs to a hypermarkets like Carrefour or Auchan, as well as a stop at one of the six Ikeas surrounding Paris.

If you have no access to a car, you can find Auchan stores at metro Galliéni or La Défense-Grande Arche and you can get to Carrefour at metro Saint Denis-Basilique, Porte d'Auteuil or Porte de Montreuil.

I agree with Kerouac. It would probably be best to head out to a big hypermarket or Ikea for that kind of stuff (especially sheets!). Monoprix can actually be quite expensive for household items, especially if you are looking for stuff you'll not be keeping for long.
Most neighbourhoods also have a few cheap "dollar" type stores where they sell everything from laundry baskets to scissors and string.

You could also check out Casa, a cheapish homeware chain (crockery, cooking utensils, tablecloths, lamps, rugs, throws, etc.). There are several dotted around Paris.

Where in Paris will you be? Near the St. Charles metro stop (15th arr.) you will find all kinds of stores with the items you mentioned, Monoprix, etc.

Some people think this place is too cheap, but try Tati. There's a huge one in Montmartre. They pretty much had everything. My sister and I picked up a pretty duvet cover w/2 pillow cases for only 10e.

Tati is indeed an excellent resource for "temporary use" linens, towels and other cheap household items. People come from every part of Africa to shop there -- and I go there regularly myself, as it is close to my apartment.

BHV is hardly like Target, it more like Macy's. The closest thing to Target is Monoprix.

I once went shopping at Tati with my old friend the Countess de Billy. She wore a Verdura brooch whilst we shopped for underwear, socks, and pantyhose.
It was so much fun. I really liked Tati.

Well, Galeries Lafayette does not fit into the "I don't want to spend too much" section of the original poster's request.

For sheets, towels, home accessories I like Bouchara (next to Galeries Lafayette.) If you read French, pick up a copy of "Paris Pas Cher," with tons of inexpensive places to buy everything, plus restaurants, home repair, etc. Ditto everyone else: Monoprix, Auchan, Carrefour, Inno for one stop shopping.
