Certified guides to Pompeii and Herculaneum

A friend is planning a visit of several days to Pompeii and Herculaneum and is interested in arranging for a knowledgeable guide. She'd like to hear of recommendations from anyone who's used and been pleased with a guide for these sites.

I don't believe that I let that get by.

We hired our guide at the entrance to the site. He was extremely knowledgeable and the tour lasted 3 hours. I included a plethora of details about our Pompeii Tour in my trip report, "The Twelve Days of Pizza"

She would like to arrange a guided visit ahead of time. Anyone done that?

Ira, I think they would prefer not to be part of a group.

Shellio - You could try contacting these people:

(I have no personal experience with them)

Hope this helps ...

Hi S,

> I think they would prefer not to be part of a group.

I believe that that can be arranged. The per person price goes up the fewer the people in the group.

An excellent guide for Pompeii, who was recommended by another guide in Rome, is Manfredi Gaetano.
He can be reached by e-mail at [email protected]
or cell phone 3387255620.
We set up a plan to meet him at a pre-determined time at the entrance to Pompeii.
He has an amazing knowledge and grand passion for Pompeii and happily passed that on to us.
