Pompeii, is it lit up at night?

Does anyone know if the Pompeii ruins are lit at night, and what time it closes the end of October? This information would be very helpful for planning a couple days in this area.
thank you

You do know that you have to pay an admission fee to enter the ruins of Pompeii, don't you? I hardly think the Pompeii administrators would take your money and make you walk around in the dark. If it isn't lit up, Pompeii probably closes at dusk.

I have only been in the afternoon in June.

You are going to hire a guide for Pompeii, aren't you? A guide is an absolute must. AN ABSOLUTE MUST. Anyone who tells you differently is being cheap.

They do light the ruins at night, but I'm not sure this is continued into October. I think the lighting is meant more for the dramatic effect rather than to allow you to tour around the ruins at night. It might be limited to the forum and amphitheater areas. Try to Google Pompeii and see if you can find an official website.

We took a guided "Pompeii at Night" tour two years ago in July. The ruins were partially lit, and there was a cheesy video with sound effects and special lights at the end of the tour. I seem to remember that this tour is only offered in the summer months, but you can check with your hotel and/or a tourist office.
