Hi Marianna,
We went on the night tour of Pompeii last July. I think it's a seasonal tour, occurring only in the summer months. We got info about it from the Sorrento tourist board.
This was our second trip to Pompeii ( first with our kids) and was quite disappointing. If you like large crowds, overly theatrical light shows, and many highlights of the day tour left out, you'll enjoy this spectacle. Otherwise, I'd definitely opt for going in the day. You can easily hire a guide for a couple of hours at the mian gate. This is what we did the first time, and it worked out beautifully.
Good luck!

Thanks for the info, Weadles. We didn't get to Pompeii the last 2 times we were in Sorrento. Instead, we went to Herculaneum because my cousin said it would be less crowded. But, this year we want to definitely see Pompeii. Perhaps it will be a daytime tour then.

Thanks for the information, Walter. I wasn't sure if it would start up again as I had also read it was only running for a brief time. We will consider the pros and cons as mentioned by Weadles and, if we try it, we will post our opinion when we return.
