Car Rental Prices
I will be renting a Clio or a Twingo for a two-week stay in France next September. Which rental company do you use? I'm looking at AutoEurope, Avis, Renault and Europcar.
Many thanks for your help.

Typically, I just choose the cheapest. Keep in mind that autoeurope is not a car rental company, but rather a "broker". They will set you up with a major, like Avis, National, etc - - most likely at rates than you can get elsewhere.

Also check another broker--Nova Rentacar. http://www.novarentacar.com
Brokers like Nova and Autoeurope contract for blocks of cars from major car rental companies, and often do have lower prices than you can find anywhere else. So shop around.

I used its for our car rental in France in August. The car came from National and it was a very good experience.
Auto Europe would only beat the price by $5.00 and I felt it would be fair to give another company a chance, especially for that little bit of money.

We had reserved a car with Europecar, our usual rental agency, but when we changed our dates I decided to check out AutoEurope. The result was the same car for about $120 less--and the agency where the car will come from is still Europecar.

You can cancel reservations with Auto Europe without being penalized. I have booked with other companies in the past but as a result of having to cancel one leg of our trip was charged a cancellation fee. I am sure I was made aware of this at the time of booking but failed to take notice. I do know that with Auto Europe it is possible to cancel or change reservations at the last minute without incurring any costs. I usually compare prices but have not found any cheaper rates than they offer.
