car rental

I hope someone can help me. We have decided to rent a car when we are in Tuscany. We are going to be in Venice for 3 days and then travel on to Lucca. I really want to know where in Venice we would pick up the car? Only at the airport or train station. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Jo

Have you tried the rental car company web sites???

If you need more help try
autoeurope.com
or
avis.com (I found Avis to be the cheapest when booking a car in europe from the US/Canada)

Having difficulty posting with IE. Let's see if this works on Netscape. You would generally pick up at Piazzale roma, which is near (but not AT) the train station. I suppose there might be pickup and return at or near the airport, but a less obvious, and less convenient place than Piazzale Roma.

Best wishes,

Rex
[email protected]
We've generally had much better luck with Auto Europe, which is a middleman providing Europcar and Avis in Italy.

After much searching and many phone calls, the best prices we found for car rentals in Germany last summer were Nova Rentacar at

http://rentacar-europe.com/

And Ofran Holiday Autos at

http://www.ofran.com/

Someone here reported finding the Nova Rentacar web site confusing when they tried it, but I didn't have a problem last year.

Piazza Roma, the vaporetto goes directy there, you go over the bridge and are then on the mainland.Auto Europe rates include ins coverage at zero deductible,be careful when comparing prices some may not include mandatory insurance and VAT tax(20%).
