mr go and knoxvillecouple, can you tell me a little more about walking distances from La Minerva? I see on the website that it says no transportation for a large area around the hotel. I can walk OK, but with my arthritic knees, I like to have an idea what I'm getting into! Are there a lot of stairs or steep inclines to get anywhere from there?

Susan -

Sorry for the delay in responding. La Minerva is about a 5 minute (brisk) to 10 minute (more leisurely) walk to La Piazzetta (the main square) - no steps (that I recall) but rather a gently sloping walkway.

Here's a quote from La Minerva's website regarding getting from the Piazzetta to La Minerva -

"To get to the hotel from the Piazzetta, walk down the main shopping streets Via Vittorio Emanuele, then Via Camerelle. To do so go in the direction of Hotel Quisisana and turn left in front of it (Via Camerelle). Half way along Via Camerelle in front of Hotel Syrene turn off to the right (Via Ignazio Cerio) at the sign indicating La Minerva and follow indications.

Otherwise at the end of Via Camerelle (after the restaurant "I Faraglioni&quot, instead of turning left into the road leading to Via Tragara, follow our sign directing you down the sloping street; the hotel is only 50 m away. This is a nicer option but you will find some steps going down."

If you have questions I'd encourage you to check out their website or call them directly. They were very accommodating.

Thank you, Sam. I did look at the website, but I often find that when websites say it's a short distance to somewhere, it's not my idea of a short distance!

Thanks for the info.

WTnow, I'm curious. Did you stay overnight? A few days? Or just day trip?
