Capri Hotels in June 2006

Hi,

I'm planning my 2006 honeymoon and may split my 6 nights in Positano, to 4 + 2 in Capri. Can you recommend a hotel in the 500-600 Euro range? If its cheaper, all the better!

I'd like to experience Capri during my stay and not necessarily be tucked away in the hotel.

Thanks in advance,
Natalie

Hello natc, I just read your other thread and agree it would be beautiful if you could spend two nights on romantic Capri.

Go to www.capripalace.com and see if that would appeal to you. Very romantic. It is in AnaCapri..but very easy to take the bus down to Capri. Beautiful location and hotel. Looks like their doubledeluxe room would fit with your budget requirements. Best wishes to you.

Yeah, me too. I'd like to stay on Capri for a night or 2 in June, but 600 euros is just a tad too high. How about 150 euros?!
Anyone have any good ideas in that price range or even less?

We were in Capri in May 2003 and stayed at the Hotel Mamela. We loved it and I believe it is significantly under your budget. It is right outside of Capri Town, gorgeous views, a nice pool and spacious rooms. Service was very friendly and we would definitely go back-- someday!

An Italian hotilier friend of mine, who I trust and who has not steered me wrong yet, recommends these three:

Stay at Hotel Tragara right at Punta Tragara. We loved the hotel's location with our balcony overlooking Punta Tragara. The suite was huge and the pool very beautiful. It was also at a quiet end of the island making for a lovely walk home at the end of the night.

We stayed two nights at La Minerva, which gets excellent recommendations from tripadvisor.com. It is elegant, beautiful views, and we were very spoiled. We got the best room there for 270 Euros/night (I just HAD to have a room with a huge terrace with chaise lounges, breakfast table and 4 chairs, etc as well as a bathroom with a jacuzzi for two with a picture window overlooking the south coast of Capri). They have less expensive rooms too, but why scrimp if the room is already half as much as you indicate you're willing to spend.

Go to my trip report for more info and link to pictures.
