Can't decide Paris Hotel - Hotel Astor Saint Honore or Hotel Napoleon

Ok everyone. I've been through the ringer on this one. I have searched tons of sites to get advice on this situation, but first hand current accounts are always the best. Trip Advisor has been great for the hotel reviews, but I feel like I'm at a stalemate!

Price is not a big issue. Location isn't a big issue either, because they are in similar locations. But I want a nice hotel and room that has relaxing and pretty decor. It needs to be a romantic atmosphere. A great view would be nice. A good concierge is also important, as I will need them to make trip and dinner reservations for me. I will be there in the wintertime.

So bottom line...I would love to hear comments, reviews, complaints, etc., on the Hotel Napoleon and the Hotel Astor Saint Honore in Paris.

Thanks everyone.

You don't necessarily need a hotel with a concierge just because you want some reservations made, unless you're trying to get a last-minute reservation at the hottest restaurant in town. I've stayed at many simple hotels where the front desk clerk cheerfully made suggestions and reservations for me.

I stayed at the Astor Saint Honore earlier this month. Our room faced the courtyard and I could not recommend this. Courtyard room afforded us a view of people hanging out their laundry and there were 2 floodlights directly outside our windows. Lobby is small—and nothing special.
We were told that the hotel restaurant is excellent.
Hotel is located in a neighborhood of office buildings although it’s an easy walk to shopping, restaurants, the metro, and many tourist sites.
We stayed here because this hotel was chosen by the tour company.

We love the Astor Saint Honore and have been staying there, at least once a year, since 1998.

Some of the rooms on the top floors have small balconies with views of Sacre Coeur. The suite on the top has a 360 degree view of Paris, including the Eiffel Tower.

The smallest rooms are very small, but the better rooms are very spacious, lovely decor, nice bathrooms, etc. We love the location as it is close to shopping, restaurants, sites, etc. The staff is always very helpful and friendly.

For a larger hotel, it has the feel of a boutique hotel. I recommend it.
