Can I bring meat to France?
I know I am not supposed to bring meat from France back to the US, but can I bring Bacon to Paris... seriously - it's a long story, but I have a need to bring a pound of uncooked american bacon to Paris this Fall. I assume if I can, placing it in my checked luggage is the best approach...

Why would you think it is OK to import American meat to the EU but not the other way around?
No meat or milk products are allowed as a personal import to the EU.
See: http://tinyurl.com/2c8973h for the full rules on imports to the EU.

No.
First -it;s illegal.
Second - it;s likely to go rancid in all of those hours in your luggage.
Third - you'll smell like rancid meat for the whole trip.
Any reason you can;t use bacon bought in France (gourmet shops should have anything special you want).
