Calling international

Can anyone help me figure out how to call from the US to one of these numbers

043 557 90 99
or
0207 026 3464

I need to change my airline tickets with Helvetic and I have to call them to make the changes.

I have tried 011 then the above numbers but it doesnt seem to work.

What country are you trying to call? To call internationally, you need 011 followed by the country code then your number, omitting the initial 0.

0207 sounds like the UK. If that's the case, then 011 44 207 026 3464.

But that's a strange number -- that the actual number starts with a 0. Maybe it's not the UK.

Hello areinert,

0207 026 3464 is a United Kingdom phone number.

As nibblette said, you have to dial 011 + country code + area code + phone number.

0207 is the area code. You use that when you're calling for ouside of that area, but within the UK. If you're calling from outside the UK, you drop the initial 0.

026 3464 is the phone number.

The country code for the UK is 44.

So what you need to dial is

011-44-207 026 3464

043 557 90 99 is in Switzerland. Switzerland's country code is 41. Again, I believe you need to drop the initial 0 from the area code of 043. So for that Helvetica office you need to call

011-41-43 557 90 99

Here are the phone numbers for Helvetica's offices in various countries

Here is a website where you can look up country codes

If you want to save a few dollars, particularly if you're likely to be put on hold, pick up the phone and dial this:

101-6868-011-44-207-026-3464

The call will call less than 5 cents a minute.

Patrick, what is the minute rate to Italy with that code? I use another code and am paying 7c/min (which is good).

I call the UK reguarlly. I use a phone card that I get on-line from www.phonecardonsale.com .I get 500 minutes for $18.95. I have been using them for several years, and have no complants. I think it runs about 3 or 4 cents a minute. The phone card is called Blue Sky.
