What do I dial to call the UK

Ok, dumb question. I need to call a theater in London. I know the country code is 44 and I know the theater's area code & number.

What do I dial BEFORE the country code?

And don't forget to drop the zero from the front of the theatre's number...

so if the number is 0207 000 0000, then dial 44 207 000 0000

Hi

It would help if you shared with us where you are calling from !

The normal global code is 00 before the international number.
US is different and uses 0011.
Miss out the 0 in the local access code.

So my number is :

Locally : 99630620
Nationally: 0499630620
My international code 33
Internationally : +33499630620

where + = your local international code

Peter
tlp.netfirms.com

Not dumb, but LAZY, since you could have looked this up yourself on this very site:

http://fodors.com/miniguides/mgresults.cfm?destination=london@91&cur_sectio n=tra&cache=false&pg=3

"Intern ational Calls

The country code for the United States and Canada is 1; for Australia, 61; for New Zealand, 64; and for the United Kingdom, 44.

When calling a London telephone number from overseas, drop the initial 0 from the area code and dial only 20 (or any other British area code) and then the eight-digit phone number. For example, to call Buckingham Palace -- 020/7839-1377 (or, in the old system, 0171/839-1377) -- from the U.S. to inquire about tours, dial 011 (the international access code), then 44 (Great Britain's country code), then 20 (London's center city code), then the remainder of the telephone number, 7839-1377."
