Any ideas about where is best to purchase gasoline? In France the best place is the supermarket-but I do not know about Italy.

I would just make a mental note of prices as I drove around the country side, then when I got down to 1/2 or 1/4, I would pop into one that was the closest to the lowest price I saw.

Most of the stations are within a few Euro cents of each other, so it could cost you more to try to chase one down that would be out of your way.

Maybe I'm in the minority....but we drove 1500km in one week in Tuscany and I just got gas when I needed it.

There didn't seem to be enough difference to be worrying about prices.
