Bus from Sorrento to Amalfi
We decided to skip Pompeii and jsut do some cities. We wanted to take to bus from sorrento and see the coast. Should we stop in Positano and then take the ferry back to Capri from there (we are staying in capri) or should we keep going to amalfi. Can someone tell me how long the drive takes.
Thanks

The bus line between Sorrento and Amalfi passes thru Positano, and the drive takes approx. 100 minutes in each direction. Schedules:

Annette,
Caution: If you stop at Positano and you really should; there are two bus stops. Be sure to get off at the second stop. It's name is "Sponda". The first stop "Chiesa" will leave you with a very, very long and boring walk down to the village and beach area. I made this mistake once. It's about 45 minutes from Sorrento to Positano and about another 45 minutes to Amalfi. Find the time to take the little bus from Amalfi up the mountain to the village of Ravello. (just a 10 minute ride) Trust me. You will be very glad you did. The views from there are fantastic. No wonder it was the hideaway for Jackie Kennedy and Greta Garbo.

Are you sure of the positano-capri ferry running when you want - beware of schedules showing trips that only run in special circumstances like peak season calm weather.
Skip Pompeii!? It's easy to include that with all the coast towns; I did it even including Paestum on a day trip from Capri. Certainly use the boat between positano and amalfi - faster and more scenic. If walking down from bus stop, you don't need to clamber way back for the crowded bus.
