Hi
We didn't stay at the hotel but, right around the corner at the Hotel Mondial.
The Boscolo Exedra is a beautiful and newly renvoated hotel. We took a quick tour of it and will stay there the next time we go. It's about 4 or 5 blocks from the Terminal. The neighborhood is fine. We walked around late at night and had no problems. Enjoy!

So am I to assume that they spent all of that money in a beautiful hotel in order to accommodate the gypsies and thieves in that area? Ha! Is this really something to be concerned about? How about the St. Regis. Is it in a bad location too?

I know the Exedra Hotel, having visited it on a business meeting (I live near Rome)and I LOVE IT, so I can recommend it! Its position is great: within walking distance there is the central Station (Termini) where there is also the bus station, so you can get lots of bus and connect to the most important sites (bus number 64 for Piazza Venezia, Castel Sant'Angelo, Piazza Navona, Via del Corso and Vatican, or number 170 for Colusseum and Forum, just to mention a few of them). It is close Via Nazionale, one of the main shopping streets, there is the Opera right behind the hotel, there are pubs, restaurants, museums (Palazzo Massimo, the Planetarium, Diocletiam Baths etc). Plus it is an elegant hotel, check their web site because from time to time they have special offers (unless you find some better ones though Expedia or similars).

Hi Aurora
It is a fine hotel and yes it's BW and 4*. Right off Via Nazionale and within walking distance of the Roma TE right near Piazza della Republica. We found it to be a good location. We walked around at night and had no problems.
A good hotel for your folks.

Aurora, I too stayed at the Mondial BW last Sept. Hotel fine, sort of early disco-decor.I did not mind. This area around the station is dismal, the Grande Hotel or no. Shopping, bars, food as common as it gets. Very pretty girls on same street, had some amazing offers. To bad I am too old and too married.I still did not mind.I would never, never, never send my parents there. I would not live long upon their return. I also stayed at the Grande(now St. Regis)circa.98-99.I wondered then what was up with all the security. The station area is the most crime and tourist infested of them all. I stll did not mind.

We stayed at Hotel Italia in June of this year which is also off Via Nazionale and didn't mind the area at all. I think it should be an OK area for my parents as long as the hotel is good with elevator, and the rooms and bathrooms are spacious and clean. Could you comment on the size of rooms and bathrooms at Mondial.
THANK YOU - I still can't get over how useful this forum is - no matter how many reviews you read at other places, nothing like getting first hand personlized responses and that too so promptly.
