Edinburgh or Budapest for a week?

Edinburgh or Budapest for a week?
Hi there everyone!
I need your help and advice! I'm planning a 9 days trip by the end of October, from Friday Oct.24 to Nov.2, that's the maximum for us. It's going to be me and my husband, although I'm also trying to convince some more couples (friends of ours) to join us. Anyway, the question is : What's best, Edinburgh or Budapest? To tell the truth, I think I'd like Edinburgh best, but the airfare will be a lot more. So, does anyone know of some nice and clean B&B place in downtown Edinburgh? Is it best to stay in the centre or in a suburb? Will 7 to 8 days be enough or too much? Any day trips from there?
As about Budapest, I've read a lot of your messages and it already helped me a lot. One thing I can't decide is where is the best place to stay, Buda or Pest?
