Will be staying on Ischia for several days and then we want to spend 2 nights (unfortunately so few!) along Amalfi coast. I am thinking we will prefer Positano; can you help me figure out the best way to get from Ischia to Positano?

You don't say when you're going, but in summer there are boats every day from Ischia to Capri and boats from Capri to Positano. You may have a few hours in Capri, but there are places to leave luggage, so that looks like a bonus to me.

Hi Trvl - LMP has a direct Ischia-Positano service at 16.20 in high season.

Alternatively Capitan Morgan runs cruises to Positano/Amalfi Coast 3 days per week (- currently Wed, Thur, Sun) with deps from various ports in Ischia between 08.45 - 09.20)

Thank you for the helpful info! We will be on Ischia through 29 Sept., so I hope this means we will have the extra transportation options of high season. Unfortunately, we are finding that we also hit the "option" of high room rates in Positano.
