Berlin Mercure Hennigsdorf hotel Location

Is this hotel located to far out of the city center of Berlin? It is the Mercure Hotel Berlin Hennigsdorf I was quoted a very good rate, but I do not want to be to far away.
The adress is

Fontanestrasse 110
16761 HENNIGSDORF
GERMANY

I would rather not stay there. This is about 21 km from the Brandenburg Gate, generally a good indicator of the mid of the city and the thick of things.

If you want reasonable hotel rates, I suggest you look into other Accor Properties, such as the one at Charité, or maybe the NH Hotel on Leipziger Str.
Do not rule out the upscale Radisson SAS, which is a really nice place in a great location in Mitte, right across from Museum Island and often can be booked at a rate of EUR 99.00 if your stay is scheduled for a weekend.
Another option might be the Courtyard by Marriott in the City Center (not neccessarily the ones in Teltow and Koepenick.

According to the Mercure website it is 35 minutes from Berlin city centre by public transport. It would not be my choice. Can you get the same rate on any other Mercure hotel ? They have others which are actually in Berlin - see http://www.mercure.com/mercure/reser...geo_hotelsList.

Sorry hsv, due to the big gap I didn't see that you had already replied. You are much more of an expert than me !

caroline,

thanks for the compliments, but not in this case. I had to consult a map, too, in order to locate the place. After all, I am just a visitor (although on a fairly regular basis) to Berlin, too. And your, albeit short, trip to Berlin and the respective report here on Fodor's (which I just re-read and highly recommend for reference at http://www.fodors.com/forums/pgMessa...p;tid=34614269 ) certainly qualify you as very knowledgeable!

Many greetings to Edinburgh
hsv

Thank you,
It does seem to be to far out of the city center. That is maybe why I was given a good room rate.

Berlin is one of the most reasonably priced cities for hotels in a major European city, if there isn't a major event taking up all the rooms.

Look at Holiday Inn prepaid rates, and look at http://www.bookings.org and look at Priceline.
