Bedding Down in Bad Wimpfen - Ever Stay Here?

I've secured tickets for a summer trip to Germany and Switzerland. After landing in Munich, I thought a couple (or three days, since day one is a half-day of leisure at best)) in the Neckar Valley would be in order. Bad Wimpfen strikes me as a pleasant place in which to bed-down, to explore the region, before heading off to the Mosel region for several days. My question concerns lodging in B. Wimpfen. Does anyone have any impressions/first-hand experience with ther following accommodations:

-Hotel Sonne und Weinstube Feyerabend

-Hotel Neckarblick

Thanks for your consideration.

David, We went to visit during the Christmas market a few years ago. I can not comment about the hotels since we stayed in a private house (zimmer)
Something you might want to look into, info was availabe at the tourist office. We had a very nice stay with the couple for the two days. The town is a very nice old town, not overly touristy looking either.

David, I'm also looking at staying in Bad Wimpfen next year and find it difficult to get info on hotels in the area.

If you are interested in staying in a castle hotel, I came across the Hornberg Castle Hotel in the Neckar River Valley. Looks nice and the prices seem reasonable.

DO write a trip report when you return as it would be most helpful to those of us still in the planning stages.

Hi, sorry that I can't offer opinion about Bad Wimpfen accommodations, but I do remember it as a nice place. We stayed in Neckargmund, and enjoyed that small town very much, and a visit to Dilsberg up on the hill, and a walk to the four fortress ruins somewhere along there. You've picked a nice quiet area to recover from jetlag. J.

Dear Folks,

Thank you for your replies. At this time, I'm edging towards the centrally located Hotel Sonne.

Betty, I will indeed provide a trip report upon return. As to the Hornberg Castle, it does look inviting, and is reasonably priced. Thanks for the web address.

I stayed in the Hotel Sonne about 26 years ago and thought it was OK BW is a nice little town, the Neckar River valley is very scenic. Another scenic area is the area to the east of BW

I have first-hand experience with the Neckarblick Hotel in Bad Wimpfen. We stayed there for two nights in early September, 2001. 3* hotel. Very pleasant place. Before the Euros, it cost 145 DM per night; our actual cost was $142.55 for two nights.(all inclusive) for twin-bedded room. Fabulous buffet breakfast. Pleasant hosts. Parking right at the door.

Orenstein,

Thanks for the feedback. It was just what the (travel) doctor ordered. I took a look at the Neckarblick's website and it appears to be a good reflection of what you've indicated.

Thanks again.

I have to admit that I have never even heard of Bad Wimpfen, but now that I have, I will absolutely make it a priority to stay there the next time I am in Germany. I can only the imagine the looks on unsuspecting individuals when I begin a conversation with "Did I ever tell you about my trip to Bad Wimpfen?"

Who names these places?! Sorry, but I have giggled every time I have seen this post.
