Bayern means Bavaria, and Bavaria is a state over 1000 years old. Stuttgart is in Württemberg (state of Baden-Württemberg). It is outside of Bavaria, so the Bayern Ticket is not valid there. There however is a special BW ticket at the same conditions AND there is a ticket (Quer-durchs-Land Ticket) that covers both states and will cost you 42€ for one person plus 6€ extra for each additional person. Same restrictions apply. Tax financed as well.

Abbreviations for German states are below.
Whenever you use them, it'll be clear what you are referring to. Quite simple and straightforward

B Berlin
BB Brandenburg
BW Baden-Württemberg
BY Bayern
HB Bremen
HH Hamburg
HE Hessen
MV Mecklenburg-Vorpommern
NDS Niedersachsen
NRW Nordrhein-Westfalen
RP Rheinland-Pfalz
SA Sachsen-Anhalt
SH Schleswig-Holstein
SL Saarland
SN Sachsen

They do have maps of all states. They don't have regional maps.

There are several maps of Bavaria and all the other states that show the boundaries.
Those options afaik are available in German language only
Check google with "bahn", "regional", the "state" and "karte".
Bahn.de is a mess!

This is where the Bayern Ticket is valid:

Hey, thanks logos!!! Great info. It helps a lot to know the boundaries within the Bayern pass. I think I might check out Oberstdorf while I there in June.

Yes, there are a few places outside of Bavaria, where the train reenters Bavaria the next station and where the ticket is valid even though that's one stop out of state.

The pass is a really good deal for me. I like to check out the smaller towns. And I haven't been to Bamberg in about 3 years, so I will go there too.

Bamberg, like anywhere in Franconia is really nice! The Franconains are so differnt from the folks down here but the beer is so great and the white wine is beyond belief! And prices are so reasonable too. It's all you can wish for and you're still in Bavaria ;-).
Some of their ancestors moved to France and gave it its name, maybe that's why there's this bit of "savoir-vivre" still alive there.
