apartment venice for 7
I'm hoping someone will be able to help me with this since I'm having trouble finding it on my own. I've googled and checked several sites but haven not really been successful.
I'm looking for an apartment in Venice for 6 adults and a 4 year old. I'm looking for 3 seperate bedrooms, preferably (but not neccesarily) 3 bathrooms, a big kitchen and/or livingroom where we can all sit down and have dinner together plus an outdoor terrace or garden. Price range maybe between 1500 to 2000 euro a week. I think I may be stretching it a bit for this price so I'm also interested in looking at more expensive places. Has anyone ever rented something like this? Any help is greatly appreciated!

Hi Vakantie,
check out
wenicevenice.it
Their San Travaso apt is close to your needs. 3 beautiful bedrooms, only two bathrooms. large living room and kitchen area.
There is an outside garden area but when we stayed their last year we were always out and about. If you e-mail them ask if the garden is available for renters.
My Daughter and I rented the Torchette and were very happy with it.
The owner is a very nice man. he did not require a deposit as we had e-mailed numerous times and developed a trust. However he might now ask for a deposit. The apartment is in the Dorsoduro area and just 5 to 10 vaporetto ride to everything.
We enjoyed the neighborhood, good restaurants, gelato and friendly neighbors.
Buono fortuna !!

hi, vakantie,
i had a look at the www.holiday-rentals.co.uk site, as we rented through them last easter and found lots of choice, even for easter.
they are an "owners" site - you contact them direct.
as of this am, they had 13 apartments suitable for 6+ people with a garden/terrace.
you might also like to look at www.italy-accom.com, who we rented from in Rome a few years ago.
their web-site allows you to select by no. of bedrooms which could help.
good luck,
regards, ann

Thanks for your replies!
I've found several good options at the holiday rentals site including the following which is a little over budget but makes a nice daydream
http://www.holiday-rentals.co.uk/p402275
I've emailed all the other options that are within my reach.
The move and stay one didn't bring up any options in Venice for me but bookmarking so maybe I'll get to use it in the future. Have you rented through them before?

hi again, vakantie,
wow- only a "little" over budget - in that case I'd have a whip round and make the extra. apart from anything, the position is excellent - you can save the extra by shopping in the rialto markets every day and eating in!
otherwise, as you sure you need a terrace/garden? you haven't said what time of year you are travelling, but there are plenty of places to sit and stare in venice, albeit most of them cafes that you'd have to pay for a drink at least to enjoy them!
we rented an apartment with a terrace last easter [end of March] and used it once, so it wasn't really worth the effort or extra money.
that said, if you'll be there between May and September, it might get some use.
good luck with your search,
regards, ann

Hi Ann,
Well it's a lot more than a little over budget, I hope you caught the irony in my words
I'll be traveling with family and the idea is that during the day everyone gets to do their own thing and that in the evenings we'll gather in the appt where we'll have Italian style family dinners together. We're looking to go during summer so It will be nice to be able to do this outdoors. Also, all of us have been to Venice a couple of times before so while there is still plenty to do, we'll also want to be able to relax at the appt. So, while not absolutely necessary, an outdoor area is high on our list.
Susan, price, location and size did indeed look good. If we are unsuccesful in finding something with a garden, I still may go ahead and book it! I'll let you know if I do.

Hi vakantie,
yes, I guessed that it might be a little outside your [or indeed my] budget. we can but dream...
out of interest i went t othe site i mentioned before [italy-accom.com] and looked for Venice -
http://www.venice-accom.com/accommod.../3bedroom.aspx
they have 4 3- bedroomed props with terrace/gardens, all between €200 and €300 per night.
don't know if they are available for your dates but they might be worth a try. if it were me looking for a summer stay in Venice, i think I'd want an outdoor space too.
good luck with your search,
regards, ann

Since you have such very specific needs, I would suggest skipping prowling the listings at each site. I think you would be better served to e-mail the agencies directly with your requirements and the dates and see wht they suggest.
There are several places where the rental units take up most if not all the building. Listed individually you might see a 2 bedroom and a couple or more one bedrooms, but if you took the entire property it would fit you needs perfectly. It is sometimes hard to figure these out from the rental listings. The agent would know if these type of arrangements can be made.

I found something on the holiday rentals uk site that has everything I was looking for and it is on the canal grande! It's a little over my initial budget but still in an ok price range.
Notbob, in retrospect emailing agencies would have been the better and faster way to go, I took me quite a lot of time to find this one. On the other hand, I am really pleased with it (and hopefully will still be and might not have found it otherwise.
Thanks everyone for your helpful suggestions! I'm bookmarking all the other sites for future use.
