Amsterdam for 4 days?
My friends and I are taking a European vacation and one of our stops is Amsterdam. They want to spend 3 nights and 4 full days there. From what I've been reading there isn't a whole lot to see or do?? Maybe I'm wrong. I would rather spend 3 days there and add an extra day to Rome for 5 days in rome. What is everyone's opinion on spending 4 days in Amsterdam too long or just right? Thanks

Do you intend to visit some museums in Amsterdam? If yes, and I recommend to do this, 4 days will be OK.
On the other hand, if you comapre what you have to visit in Amsterdam and in Rome, there are more, more things to see in Rome. How nmaany day you plan for it - 4 or 5?
We stayed one week, and I would like to have 2 more days.

You COULD rush thru Amsterdam checking off the must sees in three days but IMO it is a city that should be savored. Lots of great neighborhoods to stroll thru, cafes on the side of canals to sit and watch the boats and bicycles, charming shops to browse in, some nice daytrips to nearby locations, plus all the major sites....I would love to have a week or more to spend in Amsterdam. But to some extend it depends on your travel style and interests but I don't think you will regret (or be bored)if you spend 4 days there.

there's much more to see and do in Rome and Rome is a much larger city. Amsterdam is compact and if not into museums there's little to see except the canal-laced city itself - one of Europe's most very beautiful cities but three days should be enough. Now if into coffeeshops and their legal sales of cannabis and 'magic' mushrooms you may need more time!
