I've read lots of stories lately about flights being changed and cancelled without passenger notification. I have a flight scheduled for September on American from MCO to ORD to LHR... how do I find out if its been cancelled or changed? When I go to the American site, it tells me I must be withing a week of travel to find out. Is that true?> (I'm a bit ignorant about such things, this probably has an obvious answer)

I have flight on American for May. I check the flight number -- if it's still there &amp; all's the same, ok. If not I call.<BR><BR>Suggest you call the 1-800 number and ask (a &quot;live&quot; person). When I was unable to view reservations on site, they were very pleasant re my worried questions.<BR>

I would begin checking with them two or three weeks prior to your trip. A lot can happen with flights between now and then. I plan to start checking my flight details two or three weeks before my July trip on Air France, as well. I also plan to continue checking twice weekly before I depart just in case something changes last minute. I never used to confirm flights, but I think it's a good idea with the way things change nowadays.<BR><BR>Good luck.<BR>

I don't understand the site telling you it must be within a week. I use the site all the time to check my flight, which I booked in March for end of June/return July. I have an AA frequent flyer account so have my own online account where I can check my bookings, I don't know if that makes a difference. I thought anyone could sign up on aa.com for a profile and flight notification info, if you have a confirmation number. I also booked through aa.com. <BR><BR>In any case, you can check just by going to Travelocity or something for that flight, can't you? I've had pretty good luck calling AA, also, compared to some places.

GreenDragon - I don't know if this will work that far in advance but - if you have a ff id and password you can view your upcoming flights on their website. It's helpful if you know the booking code. You can also activate a flight status check to have them email or call you if there is a change. Of course I found out all this after I called and found my May 1st flight from CDG to JFK was cancelled!!! I was changed to an earlier flight.<BR>HTH,<BR>Mara

I had booked through STAtravel, so it took a bit of maneuvering to get my itinerary on the frequent flyer account, but I did... thanks for the tips!

Just go on AA and enter just like you are going to book the flight. It will bring up the fights for that day and you can check if the flight is still there. Check again around the middle of May, most flights that are going to be cancelled will be cancelled by then. I would also keep checking each month.

Thanks, all, for the info. I was able to access my trip and even book a seat for one leg of the flight that I couldn't get a seat for when I booked it originally. Glad to know about this handy feature of the AA site.
