Why would two screenames necessarily ID him as a troll?

And if he is a troll, you have to give him credit for wherewithawl.

"Troll," in the context of message boards and the like, describes somebody who is posting just to be confrontational or to raise hackles. It probably originates from the fishing term "troll" which describes dragging a slow moving bait to catch fish. The two screennames didn't ID him as a troll but it was a mistake that confirmed his purpose.
If you look at all his posts they were on the edge of absurd. However when anyone guessed his intent he became belligerant.
As to what was the harm? Wouldn't you rather deal with real people with real thoughts and ideas and questions?

Had to comment on that "country and western" remark - I think that joke was stolen from "The Blues Brothers" movie. The brothers had just put the band back together and go into a country bar (the horror!) to earn some money. They ask what kind of music is played there, and the waitress tells them, "We have both kinds - country AND western."

Oh please please please do NOT end this thread ... it's more entertaining than anything on TV. I've been laughing out loud, especially at robjame, kerouac and audere_est_facere. (I've got to remember to look up the Latin).

MrD (or is it vacationwannabe?): Enjoy your trip if you ever make it off the ground with all the "American brand things" you and the "sandle" packing wife are planning to bring.

I don't know, those hotel details about Home Plazza were very accurate and unusual, I don't know why this would be a troll and nothing seems that odd to me about his questions.

Just because someone has two screen names doesn't make him a troll. Some people just use different computers (and may not know you can use the same name on different accounts), or just registered twice by mistake or whatever. I know some other regular posters on here who post simultaneously with a couple screen names, but I won't name names. In one case, I really don't know why he is doing this, as the posts are serious and he still uses both screennames.

serious posts Christina???
Say it ain't so... you are the one I rely on to be the legal eagle, the cautious eye, the voice of calm reason when it comes to analyzing posts.

I didn't ask what a troll was; I already know.

And being "belligerant" makes someone a troll? Then this site is crawling with them.

I am going to title my next question so I can get a good response with, "Can I find Wonderbread in Paris
so I may make a proper sandwich?"

Whether Mr D was or wasn't a troll I care not. This has been the first Fodor's thread that has had me in near hysterics. Whatever he might have been he was very good value.

I think Mr Dreamer's posts were pretty normal for a lot of newtimers to Paris.

However, Robjame, you really don't know who I was talking about when I said there is someone on here who routinely uses two screennames for serious posts. It wasn't Mr Dreamer. I assume this person I was thinking of has a reason for it and I really don't care that much, so won't say who it is, but people do it.

I don't care about the cigs & booze, but I refuse to believe someone has never heard of either ABBA or Momma Mia. That's where he lost me

I thought the clincher was two types of music - country and western. Quite inspired!

The clincher for me was when he said he lived in Benton County Arkansas and went on to say it was a 'dry' county. Having lived in Arkansas I was familiar with dealing with dry counties and sympathized with his situation. Until I remembered that Benton County is not dry.

"Thank you all for the information.
Fishee, We are flying into and out of Munich 4 nights but visiting Salzburg for two days then to Paris for a week and back to Munich for 1 night. Where we live in Arkansas the county is dry (No booze) so we drive about 11 miles to the MO border for liquor and cigarettes."

And:
"Kansan, We live in Pea ridge which is Benton County. I think we'll love Europe too."

I felt duped ;(
