Amalfi transport to Pompeii ruins

Hi, my mom and I are leaving Amalfi (the actual coast town) and heading to the Pompeii ruins around 9-10AM on a Friday this June and were wondering the fastest way to do this and was wondering if anyone would know of a reliable place I can book this online in advance. Thanks!

The fastest and most expensive way is to hire a driver to take you there. Is that what you had in mind?

Three to check for pricing:

Guenmar Travel based in Sorrento

Francesco Marrapese

Or you can take a boat or bus to Sorrento then the CircumVesuviana train a few miles right to the ruins entrance (Pompeii Scavi train station) - bus and train costs a few euros and is straight forward.

a private car you take two ways and I guess it just waits, with meter running, while you tour the ruins?

Sounds very very expensive - rather mix with the locals on public transit and save a few hundred bucks perhaps.

A private car would be considered a half or full day tour, depending on the number of hours. I agree that it's the most expensive way to see Pompeii, but the OP did ask for the fastest way to do it!

Agree that taking a bus and train to Pompeii could be a lengthy trek. And ferry to Sorrento to train would depend on the times of the ferries - they don;t run that often.

I hope you are planning on arriving there by 10 am - it is very hot during the afternoon and there is practically no shade.

lolochaun,

You might consider seeing Pompeii on your way back to Rome, if in fact Rome is your next destination after Amalfi. You could either take a private car ( expensive, depending on how many passengers) or, take public transportation, then the fast train from Naples to Rome ( 70 minutes).

There is luggage storage at the the entrance to the ruins by the Pompeii Scavi train station.
