Rose, you might get more responses if you mention specifically where on the Amalfi Coast you'd like to stay -- Sorrento? Capri? Positano? Amalfi? or give some other clues to your trip.

My own personal recommendation is the Onda Verde in Praiano. If you have a car it fits all your requirements.
web site:

For more details on visiting Amalfi, check out my website about our trip there:

Hi Rose,

I think you will enjoy Le Sirene.

Are you an experienced motorcycle driver? If not, Italy is not a good place to learn.

A vespa is an ideal way of getting around the Amalfi Coast. I use mine almost every day in the summer months when parking becomes a nightmare. Driving does appear to be precarious to coachbound tourists but in a small car or on a vespa it gives the tourist a huge amount of freedom.

Look into Albergo California in Positano. Was cheap for the area, very clean, great location, free parking, huge rooms comparitively speaking.

Hi rose,

I'm sure you could rent a vespa without a motorcycle license.

However, learn to drive one before you go to Italy.
