AP, your Tropea photos are beautiful. I hadn't realized the sea-face of the town was THAT steep.
I couldn't access your second link to Gerace & Stilo. If you get a chance, I'd love to see them.
And Gerace's La Case di Gianna looks lovely, as does the town.
I agree with you that Mammala is too far from Tropea for a relaxing day trip, but that Gerace fits the bill.

Just copy & paste the whole thing. There's probably not much to do in Gerace, but it does have the largest Cathedral in Calabria. I only spent a few hours there, but I really enjoyed it. The "Blue Guide to Southern Italy" may be helpful to you.
