Albergo Santa Chiara

I would like feedback on this hotel. It looks great on all the web sites.

Have you tried looking at Tripadvisor for reviews?

I stayed here for 4 days in Fall 2003. Staff was rather stiff but I very much liked the location. Also, I was given a room without a bathtub the 1st night and complained and was given a great room, wonderful bath, etc. for the remaining 3 days. Must explain, I got really lucky -- met people earlier in my stay in Tuscany who lived nearby, invited me for dinner and were available for advice. Even ran into the woman at Campo de Fiori shopping one AM -- I had wanted a place near the Pantheon and this Fodors site suggested this hotel and I changed to it from my original booking. Would I stay there again ?-- the bottom line for a real recommendation....not sure. But I am a woman alone and I felt safe here, accessible to everything I wanted and enjoyed my time there. Breakfasts were included and good -

Stayed there in February.

Can't say I noticed anything cold or stiff about the staff. They were professional and helpful. (They will ask whether you want to be billed in euros or your home currency, though.)

The public areas are attractive but compact. Room was on the small side, the norm for Rome, but adequate. Bath was large.

The location is very convenient, but can be a little noisy at night. The last revellers were up way past our bedtime. The various service vehicles make the rounds late night or early morning, too.

I would certainly stay there again, but to tell the truth I like being a bit further away from the action around the Pantheon. It is quieter and -- dare I say it? -- a little less touristy.

Hi
We stayed there several years ago. I would go back again. The room was on the small side, but we got a good deal on the price. The staff was good, I don't remember if they were "stiff" or not, but they were efficient, which is my criteria. The location was very good, walking distance to everyplace we wanted to visit.
