Albergo Miramare Positano Review
Just returned from our honeymoon in Italy and spent time in Positano, Stigliano (Tuscany), Florence, and Venice. We chose the Miramare hotel in Positano based on Fodorite reviews and were not disappointed!
We had Room 210, the "famous room" with a wall of windows in the bedroom as well as the bathroom. We had a VERY large terrace off of our room with a breakfast table and 2 chairs as well as 2 chaise lounges. Our view over the water was spectacular - you almost felt like you could dive right in!
The room was in a very secluded position from neighboring buildings, and it was extremely quiet at night. Yes, there were about 100 stairs to climb to get to the hotel, but Positano itself is very steep with many stairs/hills, and the extra steps for the hotel were not a big deal.
We paid extra for parking although the only time we drove our car was on our way in and out of Positano. Baggage porterage was free, but we tipped generously due to the hard work of the porter!
We enjoyed our dinner at Murat (outside dining in a garden) where we had the best eggplant parmigiana of our lives. We also had a wonderful casual meal at La Zaraga that had great panini (perfect picnic meal on our terrace back at Miramare!) and cannoli.
Positano was absolutely breathtaking and such a wonderful place to begin our honeymoon. Anyone considering Miramare will not be disappointed with the room quality, service, breakfast, and views - we highly recommend it (especially room 210) to other travelers.

Hi
If this hotel is in the fodors.com list of hotels (click on Hotels at the top of this screen) it would be helpful to copy and paste your comment there as well under "rants and raves".
tripadvisor.com is yet another good place to add comments.

beanweb--Thanks for the review! We're staying in Room 210 in a few weeks and it sounds consistent with everything else I've read, which have been uniformly glowing. Did you make it up to Montepertuso or Nocelle for a meal? Also, do you remember when the boat stopped running?
mhunk--Miramare's website is at www.starnet.it/miramare. Not a very good website, so you're probably better off doing a search for this site or at Fodor's Rants n' Raves, which is how I first found out about this place.

We stayed at the Miramare this June and also loved it (except for the climb). The Via Trara Gendino is a stairway 211 steps up from the beach boardwalk and 100 steps down from Via Pasitea. But once inside the beautiful appointments and views of the bay (from your terrace and bathtub) are romantic and inspirational.

Congratulations on a great honeymoon choice! We spent our honeymoon in Positano many years ago (at a hotel that's now closed), and went back for our silver wedding anniversary (that's WAY too long between visits).
But on that 25th anniversary visit, we stayed at the Miramare -- found it in an excellent travel guide called Charming Small Hotels of Italy. Like you, we just loved Miramare, and have wonderful memories of breakfast on our terrace looking at that fabulous view. We loved the fact that the town had changed very little in those 25 years -- still breathtaking.
May you be blessed to go there again to celebrate your 25th anniversary.

Thanks everyone for the replies...especially the best wishes for celebrating our own 25th anniversary some day!
In repsonse to the dining questions about Montepertuso or Nocelle...we sadly never made it out of Positano. We were just too lazy to leave our little area and were enjoying Positano far too much!
The boat was still running while we were there. They offered us a ride on it, which I really really wanted to do, but my husband gets motion sickness in the shower and there was no way he'd get on the boat. I'll be holding that one over his head for years... If the boat is still running when you are there, do it!
Miramare really was spectacular, as was Positano. We felt like we were walking through a painting the entire time.
