Does anyone know if Akrotiri has reopened yet?

Hi Aeiger

It was closed last September or around then because a roof had collapsed and killed a tourist and injured some workers. Last I heard it was still closed but that was a couple of months ago.

It is still closed and is expected to remain that way at least through 2006.

bummer, I was hoping our friends and our daughter would be able to see it. We leave in two weeks.

I seem to remember reading somewhere recently that it's partially open now, so if that's true you can at least see what there is to see.

as of last week it was closed completely and we were told it would remain that way all of 2006. the museum in fira, which has many items from akrotiri, is open, and is very interesting.

We stopped by on May 20th to see if it was opened. It's definitely closed and locked up tight--no indication when it would be re-opened.
