Airport Connection Time
Ok, I am thinking I will fly Air France to Italy in March. We ahve flown them the 3 previous times we have beent o Paris with no problems. I was thinking of flying into Milan and out of Rome. The problem is that I have only a 1 hour or so connection time flying home through CDG. What are the chances I will make a flight with an hour or so to connect? The last time I did this in 2003 I have a few hours between flights at Gatwick. So I am not sure it is doable.

I don't think anyone will know the exact statistical odds, if that's what you are asking.
It is possible, but some people haven't made it, that's all I can say. And I know it is possible in theory because I've done it a couple times.

My friend and I just did went through this exercise in October. We were connecting through Paris on Air France from Madrid. She was going to SFO and I was connecting onto LAX.
Although we were connecting from an AF flight to AF, it was heartstopping to say the least. We arrived in a different terminal than our tickets said, had to get through immigration (2 immigration officers easily over 200 people - many flights arriving at the same time), climb on the shuttle bus to the other terminal (and the bus driver waited until the bus was completely full to leave), had to go through security in the other terminal and ran like mad women to the gate (of course, at the end of the terminal!). Both of us were late for our flights but AF held them (thankfully). As it turned out, my flight waited until all the passengers were on board (even those who walked more leisurely than I) and of course, I didn't know whether or not my girlfriend made it home to SFO until I phoned her that night.
Would I do it again? I really think an hour layover is WAY TOO SHORT. However that said, it did work since both flights were AF. Good luck on your decision.

I think I may change where we fly into and out of. If we land in Venice and leave from Milan then I can get 1.5 hour connection time. One light lands in terminal 2F and the other leaves from 2E. Hopefully this will work better.

Milan airport is a terribly confusing and time consuming airport, and I've heard its gotten worse in the last 6 months. 90 minutes is still very short for making a connection from domestic to international in Europe. All you need is one snarl to make your stress level and blood pressure go through the roof.
