Air-conditioned hotel in Vienna at a reasonable price, is it possible?
We will be traveling to Vienna in mid June. I am concerned it may be warm that time of year.
I currently have a reservation at the Hotel zur Wiener Staatsoper which looks charming but has no air-conditioning.
At 123E it is reasonably priced. Any suggestions regarding a hotel in this price range with air?

I've been to Vienna lots of times, but I can't think of a decent hotel that would be lower than the price you were given, yet have A/C. I'd guess there could be some places on the outskirts where A/C might be available for a reasonable price, but I have no personal knowledge. You are going at the busiest time of year, so you can expect the highest prices.
Don't know if you've checked on some of the nicer B&B's -- it's possible one could have A/C.
Given the normal temperatures in mid-June, I would also think you might not need A/C if you could open your windows for a little fresh air. But as you might already know, Vienna's weather is a bit unpredictable.

Yes, I do know of a Hotel in Vienna with a/c-the one I stayed in last spring-HOTEL AM SCHUBERTRING-right on the Ring, 5 minutes to the Verein,(home of the Philharmonic) 5 min. to the main shopping drag Kaertner Strasse, Opera, really 5-10 min. walking distance to everything, and the tram out front and to the side will take you to where ever else you want to go. The location of this hotel is its best feature- it is readily accessible to the places you want to go to, by walking or by tram.
Breakfast very good, staff, for the most part, friendly, there are little shops and a bakery next door, and the lovely Kurpark is about 50 feet away. (TGIF Friday's restaurant located next door in a gorgeous 19th cent. bldg.!) Rooms are ok, single rooms were of a good size, furnishings a bit tired, but it was acceptable. Really nice, new, spacious bathrooms, (more important to me)-no alarm clock in the room, and staff not good about wake-ups, but other than that one negative, it was a pleasant stay. This is a continental, authentically Viennese small hotel, which suited my preferences for my stay at that time.
I believe the reviews on tripadvisor.com are probably a bit better than they should be. Obviously, June is high season, so you may be a bit limited in what you can find in your price range with a/c., as most Vienna 3 stars do not have a/c. However, there's every possibility that you won't need a/c then, or that a fan will do you just fine.

I stayed in the Carlton Opera several years ago. The a/c was adequate.
The room itself was above average size for Europe and the windows were double thickness. With the ac on and the wondows closed, we heard little street noise.
The bathroom was newly tiled and very nice.
The breakfast was absolutely outstanding. It was good to excellent in quality with plenty of variety.
I would again strongly consider the Carlton Opera if I return to Vienna.

I just took a look at the reviews for the Hotel Carlton Opera just now on tripadvisor.com, and there is an interesting message from TA which says that the reviews for this hotel are "under investigation for suspicious activity...please take this into consideration when researching your travel plans" whatever that means-but the reviews are uneven, to say the least. It does apparently have a/c though.

Thanks to all for your suggestions. Girlspytravel; I have written HOTEL AM SCHUBERTRING and am awaiting their response. Their internet site looks terrific!
I also looked at the responses for Carlton Opera on Tripadvisor. That warning is very interesting; I have never seen that on any other hotel review. The reviews seemed quite balanced with only one that is overly “glowing”. Perhaps that is the review that is in question. It brings up the interesting subject of abuse of these subjective review sites.
Other internet sites have positive reviews for the Carlton Opera hotel so bob_brown I have written them for more information on rates for my stay. Thanks to both of you and Wayne for your helpful responces!

Our friends were this summer at hotel corvinus. They liked it, it is located in the center - near City Hall and on a big shopping street. it has A/C, they paid 109 Euro / night, breakfest included.

The only qualification I can add is that my visit was almost 5 years ago. Hotels can change management.
We were in the room mostly to sleep because we were out almost every evening attending some event.
The hotel is close to a tram line, which for me was an under appreciated way to travel about the city. Once I got the idea that the tram runs on dedicated tracks often separated from car and truck traffic, I came to like it.
