Hotel in Trafalgar Square/London

Hello,

Does anyone have a recommendation for a basic hotel in the Trafalgar Square area (12/27 and 12/28). Nothing fancy - just a clean and safe hotel with en suite bathroom. I would like to spend no more than $100/night.

Thanks.

Most of the hotels in and near Trafalgar Square are high end (or at least high-ish end) Your $100 (assuming you mean US$) is barely 50 GBP - and even less if you mean Aus$ or Can$. Even using Priceline, it would be difficult to find a $100 room. Do you mean single or double?

But you can get to Tr Sq from just about anywhere easily on public transport - so is it necessary for you to stay right there?

You should get one of the Thistle hotels on Priceline for that amount.

In the past, some have reported getting the Thistle Charing Cross which is right down the street from Trafalgar Square for less than $100/night using Priceline.

Yes, I got Thistle Charing Cross on a Priceline bid for about $90 per night, but remember you don't know what hotel you will get when you bid.

I recommend the hotel, but I think the normal price is much higher. It is about 2 blocks from T Square.

The "normal" price is much higher. Wetsayed at this hotel in September ('06) and booked it through Londowntown and that discounted rate was well above $100 per night.

Yes - you can get a hotel for at or under $100 using priceline -- but that is w/o the taxes fees which will add another $25-$40 depending on the final bid.

So in that zone it will be very hard to get any room for under $100 total.
