Vienna City Centre Hotels

I'll be spending three nights in Vienna and I am looking for recommendations for a Vienna Hotel located in City Centre. Any comments will be greatly appreciated.

As I have told others on this web site before, my address in Vienna is the Pension Pertschy --- a few steps from Graben and a less than a hundred meters from St. Stephen's. The place is great, the service is superb, and you can't beat the price for Vienna. Depending on the time of your visit, you might want to stretch your stay to 4 nights, because sometimes they have a "stay 4 nights and pay for 3" offer.

If the Pertschy is filled (which it often is --- for obvious reasons), stay at their sister pension, the Pension Christina. It is right behind Schwedenplatz and costs a couple Euros less per night. I've used these pensions for a couple decades and keep going back a couple, three times per year. You'll love Vienna!

See www.pertschy.com for details.

I don't know your price range, or how many are in your party, but we really liked the Kaiserin Elisabeth hotel in central Vienna. It's on a more quiet side street, very near the Stephansdom. It's elegant in an understated way. Our 'family apartment' was about 280EUR two years ago. That included a very nice breakfast buffet in their pretty dining room. I highly recommend this hotel. (Also a U-Bahn stop on the same block.)

Check out the Hotel Astoria, it has a great location & may be a tad less expensive than some other options.

Ditto Maureen B. for the K-E. Liked the location and the quietly elegant vibe. The front desk was very accommodating and friendly - I never had to ask for my key - they'd see me come in and recognize me every time. I choose the Kaiserin Elisabeth again - but with one caveat - if you are traveling by yourself, pay the extra Euros and request a double room for single use. I had a nice double room one time, but on a brief second visit, the "single" assigned to me was clean and nice, but the bathroom was way bigger than the sleeping/living area!
