Advice requested on Rome Hotels
My husband and I will be starting our 3-week Italy/France vacation in Rome this May. We have everything booked, except hotel in Rome.

Since we will beginning our trip in Rome, I am interested in a quiet and comfortable hotel close to the sights (i.e. walkable to restaurants, trevi, etc..). Oh did I mention we wish to keep the cost under 150 euro/night (I know this may be tough).

I have scoured this message board for recommendations, found others through venere.it, eurocheapo, etc...

I have received quotes from the following hotels and am trying to get reviews or feedback on them (some of the 'recent' reviews for these hotels on this site were a few years old):

1. Residenza San Pantaleo (105 euro)
2. Hotel Marcus (150 euro)
3. Hotel Colosseum (154 euro)
4. Hotel Due Torre (185 euro) - above our price range.
5. Pensione Panda - awaiting response on availability request.

Are there any other hotels we should consider?

(I apologize for the wordiness of my post)
Thank you very much for your help!!
Hi.

Try to get some info on the Hotel Genio. I don't know what the current rates are but the location is perfect: about a block from Piazza Navona and an easy pleasant walk to the Vatican. Be sure to ask for a room at the back; the street-side rooms can be noisy.

You're welcom.

We stayed right behind the Trevi Fountain during our 8 day stay in Rome last year. Our hotel was within a 10-15 walk to all the major attractions except the Vatican. There are numerous, cheap restaurants that are very good, in the area.

Colonna Palace Hotel is right in the historic centre and 5 minute walk to most of the major sights. Traditional hotel, breakfast only, on the roof - fantastic view over the rooftops of Rome.
It faces the parliament building in a square and therefore no traffic passing and because it is opposite parliament buildings police guard all corners of the square. Very comfortable hotel (4 star).
Rome is a very safe city to walk, even late at night - its wonderful. So many of Rome's hotels can be noisy with traffic - this is peaceful yet it is right in the centre of everything!
