About the bus connections in Praiano...

Trying to figure out if I can afford to go back to Italy 6/29-7/11. I've been reading about staying in Praiano, mostly Ira and Dayle, and the hotel prices there sure are tempting. Just wondering about the bus connections, since I definitely would not have a car. How late can I get a bus back to Praiano if I want to have dinner in Positano? Thanks!

Sched is on the web somewhere, but at least in the earlier shoulder season the bus stops pretty soon (sunset?) AND MAY BE FULL ON THE LAST RUN.

Hi S,

I think that the last bus back from Positano is about 20:00.

SITA bus schedules are at http://tinyurl.com/ybe6xk

I don't know where you could find the Orange bus schedules, except for calling a hotel.

As luck would have it, I still have an orange bus schedule in my file (sometimes I wonder why I keep all the paper, but occasionally it comes in handy). My schedule is valid for June 16-Spetember 30 2005, so two years old...I would re-confirm with a hotel. At that time, the last Positano-Praiano-Positano bus left Piazza dei Mulini at 23:55. They appeared to run every 1:20 or so in the evening (18:35, 19:55, 21:15, 22:35, 23:55).

Thanks, all. I'll see if I can confirm that schedule for the Orange bus, as that would work. And good to know maybe I shouldn't wait for the last one!

Susan,

I know you have problem knees, so keep in mind that Le Sirene requires a good hike up and down stairs. Maybe it's something you could handle once a day RT?

There is another hotel in Praiano I stayed in long ago ('96) owned by former boyfriend's family friends. It's right across the street from the Tramonte d'Oro hotel and is basically at street level. A nice place back then, but I have no idea how much their rooms are.

I never can remember the exact name, Fiori (flowers) something. I'll see if I can find it for you.

Thanks, Dayle. I did realize about the stairs. While I try to keep them at a minimum at a hotel, I can do some if I have to. Do let me know if you can find the name of the other one.

Hotel Le Fioriere, Praiano. I found it on tripadvisor.com

There are a number of small hotels in Praiano.

Hi Susan - The orange Praiano-Positano service is run by Flavio Gioia. You can find timetables on:

http://www.flaviogioia.com/default.asp?p=2

For the Sita timetables go to:

http://www.sitabus.it/sitabus/campan...uadro-XV-2.pdf

Hope this helps ...

Steve

SeaUrchin, you are too good! Couldn't find my old brochure last night.

Susan, be sure to have dinner at La Brace in Praiano too! And of course a limoncello for me....

I've tried to read the SITA bus schedule in English by clicking on the "wnglish" flag but to no avail. Is there a way to view the schedule in English? I hate to sound like a spoiled Ugly American...

Look at the reply Steve_James posted. It is the schedule in PDF. Doesn't need to know Italian to read that.

Thanks for the suggestion and Steve James' posting of SITA bus schedule. I'm looking to go from Salerno West to Praiano at about 4 - 5 pm. I'm not seeing that connection

Huh? Didn't you see at the top table for Salerno to Amalfi? 16::30, arriving 17:45.

Then bottom of the page for Amalfi to Sorrento. 17:45, arriving Praiano 18:10, or 18:15, arriving 18:40.
